  • The majority of reactions to dermal fillers are redness, swelling, bruising and tenderness after the injections. These usually subside a few days after the treatment, but can last up to a week. If any of these symptoms persist longer than a week, or if you develop other symptoms, please contact our office.

  • Cold compresses may be used after the treatment to reduce swelling and decrease soreness. You may take Tylenol (if not contraindicated) every 4-6 hours after the treatment to help with any discomfort you may have.

  • In the first 24 hours following treatment, limit exposure to sunlight or UV lamps. Extensive sun or heat exposure and alcoholic beverages may cause a temporary increase in redness, bruising or swelling at the injection sites. If there is persistent swelling or redness after the injections, you should limit exposure to sunlight or UV lamps until these symptoms subside (for at least 5-7 days). If sun exposure is unavoidable, use a sun block with an SPF of 30 or greater, combined with zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide.

PDO THREADS

What are PDO Threads?

PDO stands for Polydioxanone and this refers to the material used to make the threads used in the lifting procedure. The PDO threads offer a number of specific benefits:

  • Ultra-fine threads are naturally broken down within the body over 6-8 months, although the results naturally ‘wear off’ over around 18 months

  • Transparent material invisible within the skin

  • Threads have no cones, thus no tissue damage

  • Excellent safety record – the same thread used in cardiac and other surgical sutures

  • The principle behind PDO thread lifting is not simply about pulling the skin into a different position, but also to stimulate the body’s natural reaction to a ‘foreign body’ – which is to produce collagen and improve blood circulation, contracting the tissue.

What should I expect after PDO THREAD treatment?

As with any cosmetic treatment, there might be some temporary swelling, redness or bruising. This usually passes within a couple of days.

Results take around 4-6 weeks to fully develop. We will arrange a review 2 weeks after treatment to check on the progress, a further review after a month and a final appointment after 3 months where before and after photographs will be compared and a top-up treatment provided if necessary.

Any special aftercare requirements?

We recommend:

  • avoid other facial/beauty treatments for 2 weeks

  • avoid dental work for a month

  • avoid exercise for 2 weeks and contact sports for the first 4 weeks

When will I see the results?
  • You will notice your skin is lifted and smoothed out straightaway. Initially the result may appear a bit exaggerated, but this stage will wear off in a couple of days.

  • The result will then continue to develop as the body produces new collagen and elastin.

  • The end result is a natural and more youthful look.
